Zombicide Invader - Civilian Extras Part VI

Progress marches ever onwards, much like my seemingly endless amount of Zombicide Invader miniatures. This group was made up of the aliens and non-humans in the Civilian Extras box.

Feydra Kahl Feydra

Some speculation as to who this model is based on. Some say Saru from Star Trek, and some the creature from the film The Shape of Water. Personally, I believe it is Kiara; the alien that Jerry hooks up with in Rick and Morty as Feydra is a female bounty hunter. According to the Zombicide website at any rate.

I started by painting their skin with Speedpaint Runic Grey and her coat with Scale75 Instant Colour Arcane Purple. Their trousers and arm bracers I painted with Black Templar. Lastly, I painted the leather details such as the pouches and boots with Gore-Grunta Fur.

Ix-nix-zik

An easy one, the aliens from the film District 9.

The model also proved to be an easy one to paint, the skin (chitin?) I painted with Speedpaint Desolate Brown, which despite the name is more an olive colour that worked perfectly for the alien flesh. To offset this I took the opportunity to paint his coat with Guilliman Flesh. Their chain tabard I painted with Basilicanum Grey and the patches on their shoulder I painted with Iyanden Yellow. Lastly I painted his backpack with Cygor Brown and the pouches on their legs with Gore-Grunta Fur.

Nura Satar

Possibly your garden variety catgirl but also potentially inspired by Juhani from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

The fur I painted with Snakebite Leather, a rich yellow-brown that isn’t too far from lion’s fur. I painted the clothing with an alternating Blood Angel Red and Black Templar that honestly might stray a bit close to what Harley Quinn wears. The various armour guards I painted the Basilicanum Grey and the gold chain across her shoulder with Iyanden Yellow.

Sergeant “Ook Ook” Svoboda

The name suggests a nod to the Librarian from Discworld, perhaps the book in which he gets two guns and goes gangbusters on some aliens was one I haven’t read.

To get that two tone look on the fur I started by painting their head and torso with Skeleton Horde, and once that was fully dry I could go back in with Gryph-Hound Orange and carefully block those areas in leaving just his face and the centre of his chest with Skeleton Horde. I then painted Gryph-Hound Orange on his arms and hands. His trousers I painted with Speedpaint Runic Grey, and as befitting the biker look I painted his jacket, belt and boots with Black Templar. The various leather straps I painted with Gore-Grunta Fur and lastly I painted the gold buckles with Iyanden Yellow.

Valha’intzar’shayra “Val”

I’m not entirely sure that Val is based on anything, which might be a first for CMON.

Regardless of her origins, I started the model off by painting her face and hands with Speedpaint Raging Sea. Her suit I then painted with Talassar Blue, which was a bit bright to be honest. I would have preferred something like Macragge Blue but alas I currently lack a contrast/speedpaint in that particular hue. The patches on the suit I painted with Basilicanum Grey with the shin guards and her ponytail with Blood Angels Red. The exterior of her cloak I painted with Black Templar and the inside with Scale75 Instant Colour Arcane Purple. I finished the model off by painting the various leather details with Gore-Grunta Fur.

Cloud

Cloud is a gender-reversed Nebula from the various Marvel films, the backstory doesn’t match but the looks do.

As with Val, I started off by painting their head and right arm with Speedpaint Raging Sea, his trousers I then painted with Talassar Blue. His coat and boots I painted with Black Templar, while his bionic arm I painted with Basilicanum Grey. The cloth tied to his waist and I forearm I painted with Scale75 Instant Colour Arcane Purple, the lilac colour nicely offsetting the dark colours of the coat. The gold buckle across his chest I painted with Iyanden Yellow and I finished things off by painting the leather belts with Gore-Grunta Fur.

Final details and bases

Once all the details were done I painted all the weapons with Basilicanum Grey and drybrushed them with Necron Compound. Made sense to get them all done at once.

Moving onto the bases, I covered the exposed areas with Vallejo Red Oxide texture paste and once that was dry I painted the rocks with Vallejo Fire Red. I then washed the bases with my homebrew Reikland Fleshshade as I had quite a few to do, the recipe for which is in my Zombicide Invader Xenos article. Once that was dry I then drybrushed the bases with Kindleflame making sure to get some on the boots of the models to simulate dust. Lastly I painted the rims of the bases with a matt black.
