Zombicide Invader - Plague Gang

Whilst I was on a Zombicide Invader kick I poked around my remaining boxes to see what I had left. Amongst them was the Plague Gang. I figured that I could batch paint them in no time at all with some slapchop adjacent methods.

So as is tradition I stuck some slate rocks down to the bases and primed them with Colour Forge Standard Grey. I then gave them a zenithal highlight using Liquitex Titanium White acrylic ink through my airbrush. To further bring out the texture on the models I then gave them a light drybrush with Army Painter Matt White.

Doctor Pat Fieser

To start things off I painted everyone’s skin, if they had any exposed skin, with Guilliman Flesh. Except Tuck MacIntyre, whom I painted with Wyldwood. From there I painted everyone’s boots and gloves with Black Templar and their trousers with Army Painter Speedpaint Desolate Brown. Any leather details, such as pouches and belts, I painted with Skrag Brown. For those that had bandages wrapped around their wrists I painted them with Snakebite Leather.

Doctor Sydney Hills

For more specific details I painted Doctor Sydney Hills’ shoulder and knee pads with Creed Camo. And while I had it out I also painted Finn Bartoo’s gasmask with Creed Camo. Their vest I painted with Garaghak’s Sewer. The aprons for Doctors Sydney Hills and Pat Fieser I painted with Skeleton Horde. Doctor Carmen Sunyer’s coat and Finn Bartoo’s jacket I painted with Wyldwood, the hood of the former I painted with Army Painter Desolate Brown. To finish Carmen off I painted her hair with Cygor Brown and gasmask with Black Templar. Doctor Pat Fieser’s hoodie I painted with Militarum Green. For Tuck MacIntyre I painted his apron with Militarum Green and his backpack with Army Painter Speedpaint Desolate Brown.

Moving onto the weapons I gave them all a coat of Scale75 Thrash Metal. I additionally painted the pipes and tanks on Tuck MacIntyre with Scale75 Trash Metal, as well as his visor. The ammo belt on Finn Bartoo’s weapon I painted with Scale75 Dwarven Gold. The valve on Tuck MacIntyre’s flamethrower I painted with Blood Angels Red. After which everything metallic got a coat of Army Painter Dark Tone.

For a bit of contrast I picked out the lenses of the goggles of Finn and Doctor Hiils, and mask that Doctor Pat Fieser wears with Talassar Blue. The cold colour contrasting nicely against the natural green browns of the rest of their outfits.

The bases were done in the same way that I had for all the other Zombicide Invader. I first painted the rocks with a few thin coats of Vallejo Fire Red before covering the rest of the base with Vallejo Red Oxide paste. To bring out the texture of the paste and the rocks I then gave the bases a wash of Reikland Fleshshade. To further enhance this I then drybrushed the bases with Kindle Flame before finally tidying things up by painting the rims with a matt black.

And we’re done! I told you it would be quick. As I wanted them to look like they all belonged together I tried to stick to the same colours for each of them, or at least limit myself to similar colours. Hence they were all painted with greens and browns. They look nicely similar but different, not as uniform as many of the soldiers in Zombicide but not so different that they don’t all look like they belong together.
